Picture
The rigid heddle loom is efficient, but still simple enough that you can see exactly what’s happening as you weave. It is easy and fast to set up and is very portable; you can take it traveling or to workshops. The rigid heddle loom is appealing to beginning weavers, who can get started with a small investment and not find they’ve outgrown their equipment as soon as they get the hang of it, as well as to experienced weavers who value its thriftiness and versatility. If you are starting out with weaving and want to start with a rigid heddle loom, we could not suggest a better book.

Picture
By Athanosios David Xenakis. A rigid heddle loom does not have to be restricted to plain weave. Use more than one heddle on the loom to create four harness textiles. With three heddles, you can produce twill, overshot, and Swedish lace. Black and white photos of examples show what is possible.

Picture
By Syne Mitchell. This is the rigid heddle book you've been waiting for! It covers everything, from setting up the loom for the first time to exploring some very creative variations such as weaving with wire and adding dye effects with woven shibori. Once you've followed her clear directions and set up your loom, you can weave the many projects she includes for scarves, bracelets, towels, shawls, and runners. Great pictures show the techniques in detail.
